First Eucharist for Children (First Communion) The First Communion program at St. Norbert Church involves a two-year process that prepares your child to receive the sacrament of the Eucharist. This process includes a combination of parish life activities, gatherings with their peers, and parent-led sessions in your home. Our hope is to journey with your family as we learn about the Catholic faith together!!
Registration for the program typically occurs during the summer months. For more information, please contact the Family Life & Formation Team in the Ministry Center at 714-637-4360.
Guidelines for the process of preparation for the reception of First Eucharist
The child must be in at least the 2nd grade to receive the sacrament of Holy Eucharist. The process requires 2 years for elementary children. Children can begin their formation at the earliest in the 1st grade.
The first-year children will focus on the foundations of the Catholic faith.
In the second year, the children will focus on preparation to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation (Confession) and First Eucharist (Communion).
NOTE: Godparents or sponsors are not required for the sacrament of First Eucharist.

We understand that a well-rounded family has many commitments. Our belief is that families should not have to choose between family life and their faith life – each of these things is holy.
