History
The St. Norbert Guadalupana Scholarship was developed through Hispanic Ministry in 2006 as a way to give back to the St. Norbert Parish Community. The Hispanic Ministry group has generously done fundraising for the scholarship fund through the annual La Fiesta Dinner Dance, which is held each September. We have also received individual contributions throughout the year.
In the first year, 2006, we were able to award four $500 scholarships to our St. Norbert graduating high school seniors for a total award of $2,000. Between 2007 and 2010, we were able to award twelve $1,000 scholarships. To date we have awarded $14,000.
2011 is our sixth year for this scholarship and we are fortunate to again offer three $1,000 awards.
Goal
The St. Norbert Guadalupana Scholarship Fund enables the parish to provide financial assistance to deserving young men and women of the parish who are graduating high school seniors planning to attend an institution of higher learning – a community college, four year college or a trade/vocational school. It is our hope that the process of fundraising and granting this aid will foster a sense of community in the parish, and encourage these worthy students to become leaders of our church and community.

St. Norbert Guadalupana Scholarship Committee

- Pat Robles-Friebert, Chair
- Francisco Garcia
- Elva Carnovale
- Tere LeFranc
Selection Process
The selection of our award recipients is taken very seriously. The Guadalupana Scholarship Committee utilizes an impartial team of business and education professionals from the community to review the scholarship applications.
A blind reading process is used, meaning that all identifying information is removed from the applications prior to scoring. The Selection Committee is given guidelines to follow as they review the applications. Because of the blind reading, they do not know who the recipients are until after the selections are made.
Donations
We are happy to receive donations for the St. Norbert Guadalupana Scholarship Fund. Please deliver any contributions to the Ministry Center Office.
