Sacrament of Baptism
Preparation
Baptisms are scheduled twice a month on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The 1st Saturday of the month is in Spanish; the 3rd Saturday of the month is in English. Parents must first meet with a member of the parish staff or baptismal team, at which time the date of baptism may be scheduled. Parents and godparents are required to attend two baptismal preparation classes; these classes are offered at different times depending on the language in which they are taught.
Godparents
When selecting godparents for your child, please remember that the godparents provide a witness of faith to the child. Godparents must be baptized and confirmed, practicing Catholics over the age of 16. If married, the godparents must be married according to the precepts of the church. Each child must have at least one Catholic godparent. They may also have a second godparent, or a Christian Witness, who is a member of another Christian church who has received valid baptism and is actively practicing Christian faith.
Please contact the Parish Office (714) 637-4360 at least two months prior to when you would like to schedule the baptism of your child.
Confirmation
Preparation
The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated each year for adult Catholics (who have been Baptized and received First Communion) and for High School students. The preparation program for adults is a 10-week course usually offered beginning in mid-January; the high school program is a two-year process with the goal of fostering and developing the faith of the youth of St. Norbert Parish and to confirm them in the Spirit to be mature adults in the Catholic faith.
Classes for high school students meet on Sundays from 3:30-5 p.m., typically the second and fourth weeks of the month (October – April). Please contact the Office for Youth Ministry (714) 637-4360, ext. 210.
Sacrament of Matrimony
Couples who would like to celebrate their wedding at St. Norbert Catholic Church should contact the Ministry Center for an appointment with one of the priests at least six months prior to marriage.
Please contact the Ministry Center at (714) 637-4360.
Sacrament of the Sick
In the event of a serious illness, an upcoming surgery, a change of condition for one who is elderly or infirm, or of a medical emergency, the Ministry Office should be contacted immediately so that the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick may be celebrated.
Also, a communal celebration of this Sacrament is scheduled for the 1st Sunday of June and December each year.

First Reconciliation and First Communion
The Diocese of Orange requires a two-year preparation for children wishing to celebrate the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist. This preparation may be completed through enrollment in the School of Religious Education or St. Norbert School. Parents attend a series of meetings on the theology of the sacraments in general and specifically First Reconciliation and First Eucharist.
Parents are given practical suggestions on how to talk with their children about God, why it is necessary to attend Mass on Sunday, and how to share their faith with their children in age appropriate ways.
During the second year preparation the children celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation during the Lenten season and their First Communion during the Easter Season. A First Communion Retreat day is scheduled for the children before the reception of the Eucharist.
For more information and to register, please stop by the School of Religious Education Office or call (714) 998-1070.
