Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the Homebound

Each Sunday, our ministers take communion, Sunday Bulletins, and other religious articles to our elderly and ill parishioners who are unable to attend Mass. If you or someone you know would like this service on either a permanent or temporary basis, please contact the Ministry Center at (714) 637-4360 and include your name and address in your message.

Parish Nurse

Our Order of Malta Parish Nurse Program for Seniors offers health, social, and spiritual support for the seniors of St. Norbert Church. The program was started by the Knights and Dames of the Order of Malta, which is a Catholic order of men and women who dedicate their time to providing service to the sick, poor, and elderly.

The Parish Nurse Program offers home visits by a registered nurse who will provide health assessments, blood pressure screening, diet counseling, medication review, and home safety checks.  Since the parish nurse is also an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, it can be offered during the home visit to those seniors requesting to receive this sacrament.

All services, including the home visits and luncheons, are free of charge to the seniors of St. Norbert Church.  If you are interested in receiving services, or you have a loved one who could benefit from the Parish Nurse Program, please contact Ann Bilash, RN at (714) 637-4360 or email bilash@adelphia.net.

Kirkwood Assisted Living Outreach

Members of our Kirkwood ministry serve those living this assisted living environment less than one mile away from St. Norbert Church, nourish their bodies and souls through the Eucharist, the Word of God, refreshment and fellowship. If you are extraordinary minister of Holy Communion and wish to minister in this way, please contact Thelma Juan at (714) 491-2487.

Angels on Wheels

We may not have wings to fly, but we do have wheels to drive! We are volunteers who provide transportation to parishioners who need to go to doctors’ appointments or Sunday Mass. Ministers are scheduled according to their availability on a rotating basis. If you are a licensed driver and can commit to being available just one day every two weeks, we invite you to serve in this manner. If you or someone you know needs transportation assistance, we’re ready to help. For more information, please contact Tony Paukstis at (714) 974-0518 or email tonypa@ix.netcom.com.

Bereavement Ministry

Our Bereavement Ministry is a special lay outreach to console and support individuals and families in our parish community who are mourning the death of a loved one(s). Trained ministers assist families with planning the funeral liturgy and are present during the funeral Mass. Ministers make follow-up calls and referrals to support groups as needed during the bereavement period. Our Bereavement Ministry tries to be the heart, hands and compassion of Jesus. No one can remove another's pain, but almost everyone can walk beside and support another who is sorrowful. Those involved find that in supporting others, their own faith is nourished and strengthened. New ministers are always welcome. If you are in need of help or support, please contact the Ministry Center for information on training at (714) 637-4360.
