Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

As Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, we are members of the parish who serve the Body and Blood of Christ to the assembly during Mass.

To be an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, you must be a Roman Catholic who has received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. If married, you must have received the Sacrament of Marriage in the Catholic Church. Training is conducted periodically at the parish.

Please contact Janine Kilgore at the Ministry Center (714) 637-4360 Ext 110 or email jkilgore@stnorbertchurch.org if you are interested in learning more.

Lectors

As Lectors at St. Norbert, we proclaim God's Word at the Liturgy.

Men and women with the gift of proclamation are invited to undergo training to serve as members of our Lector Ministry.

Proclaiming God's Word effectively requires a willingness to work on communications skills in an ongoing training process. Lectors must have received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. If married, you must have received the Sacrament be Marriage in the Catholic Church.

Please contact Colleen Holland at (714) 997-1473 or email dutchpc@sbcglobal.net for more information.

Altar Servers

Our primary role is to assist the priest at Sunday liturgies, weddings and funerals. We invite parish youth from fourth grade and above to serve in our ministry. The training is free but the experience is invaluable. For more information please contact Karen Purpura at (714) 974-6507 or email kpurp@sbcglobal.net

Music

Our ministry as cantors, choir members, ensembles and musicians help the assembly pray in song.

Contemporary music is offered at the 9 a.m., noon and 5:30 p.m. Sunday Masses and a traditional choir sings at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass. New members are always welcome.

The Children's Choir is open to all children of the parish in grades 4-8. They rehearse on Thursdays, 3:15 - 4:30 p.m., September through June, and sing once a month at the 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and noon Sunday Masses, and on Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday.

If you would like to share your vocal and/or musical talent with us, please contact Pro Mojica at (714) 396-4336, email pmojica921@yahoo.com or Janine Kilgore (714) 637-4360 Ext. 110, email jkilgore@stnorbertchurch.org for information and rehearsal times.

The Spanish coros sing at the 2 p.m. Mass on Sunday and at the 6:30 p.m. Mass on Wednesday.

Ushers & Greeters

As ushers and greeters we extend Christ’s love, warmth and hospitality to newcomers and parishioners arriving at St. Norbert Church for Mass. Ushers are men and women who assist with seating and facilitate the collection and communion aspects of Mass. Greeters are individuals and often entire families who join together with the Holy Spirit to welcome our community into our sacred place of worship.

If you are interested in adding your welcoming smile to our ministry, contact Janinie Kilgore (714) 637-4360 Ext. 110 or email jkilgore@stnorbertchurch.org for more information.

Altar Care

As members of the Altar Care Ministry, we maintain the appearance of the church (including the sacristy, sanctuary, and vestibule), through cleaning, polishing, and upkeep of the sacred space, caring for the linens and vestments, and keeping the church building in order.  We use our creative talents for this ministry once a week, after the Friday 8:30 a.m. Mass.  "Many hands make light work."

If you feel inspired to join our team, please contact Kathy Ryan at (714) 998-4206 or kgryan51@aol.com.

Art & Environment

Our ministry is to design, plan, and decorate the Church for the liturgical year and for various liturgical celebrations. By the use of flowers, color, fabric, statuary, and plants, we enhance the worship environment through the medium of art. If you wish to join us, contact Joan Doyle at (714) 282-1082 or joandoyle07@aol.com.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Children’s Liturgy of the Word provides a wonderful opportunity for children to hear and understand the Sunday Scripture readings. Each week during the 9 a.m. Sunday Mass, children from Grades 1-4 are invited to participate in the Children’s Dismissal just before the first reading.

In the Ministry Center Library, trained adult leaders emphasize a “kid’s point-of-view.” The Gospel is proclaimed from a special Lectionary for Children, followed by a discussion relevant to the lives of the children. The children return to the larger assembly in time for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. For more information, please contact Michele Desbiens at (714) 999-2710 or email michele@ponderosapm.com.
